As a part of the 1984 World’s Fair, Communication Arts produced the Mississippi Pavilion’s feature attraction—a 42-projector audiovisual presentation displaying 3,000 slides on a 140-foot panorama screen with special lighting effects and five-channel wrap-around sound. The theater accommodated 550 viewers and was filled to capacity for most of the 36 showings per day throughout the six-month fair in New Orleans, Louisiana. Communication Arts researched and collected archival images, engaged over 25 photographers to capture photographs across the state, and directed narration by native Mississippian James Earl Jones.
