When the state’s premier rehabilitation center for spinal cord injury was under construction, one of Communication Arts’ founders was under contract and developed interior graphics to work with specified architectural signage. Bold colors and striking icons identified function areas and services (physical therapy, hydrotherapy, x-ray, casting, speech therapy, psychology, men, women, occupational therapy, dining, chapel) at the landmark facilities built to foster independence and self-reliance for those recovering there.
