As it began work on the television documentary The War: The Mississippi Experience, Mississippi Public Broadcasting drew on Communication Arts’ research expertise. To identify Mississippians who had compelling stories they were willing to tell on film, we contacted more than thirty-five Mississippi World War II veterans. We used the information gained in our telephone interviews to compile a synopsis of each veteran’s service. Mississippi Public Broadcasting used the synopses to formulate pertinent questions to ask each veteran filmed, and the resulting documentary aired in September 2007.
