As a part of its Quality of Life Initiative, the Naval Facilities Engineering Command sought graphic design assistance in generating the Whole Room Concept: Design Standards and Procurement Catalog for Navy Bachelors Quarters (BQ). To support the Navy’s goal of providing well-appointed living environments to promote the dignity of its personnel, Communication Arts was charged with developing layout for the nearly 400 pages of palettes for whole room furnishings (i.e. furniture styles, wood finishes, drapery, upholstery, wall coverings, paint, carpet, wall art).

Sixteen vendor sections, each composed of individual specification sheets (with diagrams, swatches, and reference materials), were assembled into layout templates ultimate assembly into stock ring binders with custom cover inserts.
